Tip Serve

The tip serve is a serve where the server hits the ball high against the wall behind them. The opponent moves forward to the net where they anticipate the ball will land, the server also moves towards the net and lightly tips the ball over their opponent and landing it in their back court. The wide variation in landing positions makes this a difficult serve to defend against.

When you have done this trick a number of times, you can get the ball to hit the net instead, catching your opponent off guard.

A variation of this serve involves the server not hitting the ball a second time, making the ball just clear the net. This is called "The Oldest Trick in the Book" on the Wikipedia article on Slime Volleyball.

When you do this version, your opponent might try to Spike the ball back, but you can Block it, since you would be in the air already. Be careful not to go over it!

Another variation on the tip serve involves skimming the ball at the last moment instead of jumping and tipping it:

You can also re-create this serve in the middle of play. This is pretty helpful for Slime 2004, where you can't do the tip serve right away, but the AI has a weakness for it.

This example shows a variation of the Tip Serve. The Pathetic White Slime in One Slime is vulnerable to this.
