OneSlime.net FAQ

From SlimeWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This is a FAQ for the websites OneSlime.net, CricketSlime.net and SlimeTennis.com. See also the One Slime game FAQ for questions about the One Slime game rather than this website. If you want a question answered, email me (see below) or leave a message on the talk page.

Who runs this site? Me, Daniel Wedge, aka Wedgey, the guy who did the One Slime AI. I used to have a website at tartarus.uwa.edu.au/~wedgey/ but I've now migrated to a new server with a new address. I think my uni is probably glad to see the game moved to another server!

Why don't you host all of the Slime games? There's no point, we don't need Yet Another Slime Mirror Site on the web, the sites out there already do a good job. I'd rather just host my own stuff and do it well rather than attempting to host The Definitive Slime Website (which includes many very similar games).

How does the high score table work? Firstly, One Slime will check if your score is eligible for the high score table when your game is complete. Even though the table says "top N scores from the last X days", it isn't cleared every X days, it just keeps any scores that aren't older than X days (so a score recorded at 3am on Monday will be on the high score table until 2:59am on Thursday, as long as the score is still high enough). So don't wait for me to reset it and hope you can get on there with a score of 500, otherwise you might be waiting a long time!

Do you know such-and-such a link is broken? No. Please email me with the details of the broken link, I would appreciate it (email address below).

Will you link to my website? topslime.com is a listing of good Slime websites. I don't see the point in duplicating this service, it looks like it's done well.

Will you host this game/file for me? Sorry, the answer is no. If you have some Slime related article (like your own FAQ), why not add it to the wiki?

Do I have to create an account for the wiki? No, not if you only want to view articles. However, if you want to be able to edit pages, you do now need to create an account. I hate websites that require registration but people keep abusing this site so hopefully requiring people to create an account might reduce the amount of vandalism. I don't have any evil plan to collect your information though, in fact, I am probably more paranoid about privacy than you are.

How do you write Java games/Flash games? Well - do you know Java? If so, then check out my Java games programming tutorials which is based on understanding the Slime Volleyball code. If you don't know Java, then search for some introductory Java tutorials on the web and then try my tutorials :)

Sorry, I don't know Flash so I can't help you with that, and I'm not available to debug your code or provide walkthroughs for other peoples' code. However if you have some Slime-related programming question, why not post it in the forum?

Will you write any more Slime games? Unfortunately things in the Real World have priority and I don't really have any ideas/motivation for more games right now. Never say never though... (hey, I did just put up a Slime Tennis game...)

I don't like your colour scheme, can you change it back? No, sorry - I only seem to change it every 2 or 3 years so you have plenty of time to get used to it :)

Is the Impossible 15 puzzle really impossible? Yes - see this article on Wikipedia. Sorry :P

What's your email address? anchorslime at gmail.com - you know what to do :)
